Career Profile

I have a history working in the non-profit, campus/community radio sector and a long-standing interest in art and music. I’m trained as a software developer. My master’s degree was on Human Computer Interaction. Since graduating, I have been running my own company as a web developer and system administrator, working for non-profits, radio stations, schools, and artists. I am a full-stack web developer, artist, and sysadmin for hire.

System Administrator

January - September 2016
CKUT, Radio McGill

I managed multiple servers and IT infrastructure for a large radio station operation, including file servers, VOIP, router configuration, media streaming and archiving, database management, web servers, etc. I performed day-to-day and on-call troubleshooting for technical emergencies. I installed a new server for broadcasting national emergency alerts on-air.

System Administrator, Developer

2013 - Present
CFRC campus/community radio

I began doing work for this client upgrading and redesigning a Wordpress site. Later I developed core media functions for a new CMS (Nationbuilder), including a calendar schedule, audio archives and media streaming. I also built a new physical server for audio streaming (JACK/Liquidsoap/Shoutcast), archiving, and UI, with automatic backups, networked file server, Apache, etc. I also installed a server for emergency alert broadcasts.

Web Developer

2014 - 2015
Faculty of Law, Queen's University

I created a searchable, interactive map with editable content using the Google Maps Javascript API. I communicated and met regularly with the client, met deadlines and managed responsibilities. I produced design assets as needed such as floor plans, icons, user instructions, and a search bar.

Take a look at some of my work. Below is a selected list of websites that demonstrate my development skills.

Stones Kingston - Wordpress theme and custom Google Map with audio walking tours. Created with Google Maps Javascript API.
Interactive Directory Map - Interactive map of a law school building. Custom content management system, front-end and back-end development.
Radio Station Schedule - A schedule that displays upcoming and previous on-air programming with weekly and daily views, and a searchable archive of past shows. Front-end theming and programming in Liquid, and back-end server development with PHP.
